The Witch and the Hundred Knight

The Witch… and the Hundred Knight!

Finished in 59 hours. I left the game on sometimes so I’d say it’s about, 55 hours long. This is quite a long game.

Now. This is one of the best games I've ever played. I really haven't played anything like it. This is a dark fantasy action RPG released by Nippon Ichi Software. One of their better games, in all honesty.

I really liked the story, characters, music, and gameplay of The Witch and the Hundred Knight. I like how it resembled a rogue-like RPG in the sense of having a "Belly" function, but in this game it is presented as "GigaCals". It's not as tedious as Belly like in games like Torneko: The Last Hope or Pokèmon Mystery Dungeon. It doesn't run out quickly, but it adds an aspect of "Quickness" and tension while playing the game causing you to play more tactically and faster. The combat has a lot of mechanics to it. There are even hidden controls/movements you can find on your own which I thought was really cool. I even found just random types of movements while pushing buttons during combat.

One gripe I have about the game would be that some of the stages literally take 40 minutes to 2 hours to complete. Hence why it's so long. Filling in the entire map, fighting all the enemies and Collecting every item can be time-consuming. But the game let's you leave the stage at certain checkpoints. So if you die, you don't start back at the beginning.

Nevertheless, the game is really fun and lengthy.

The music was really good. The soundtrack is very much in the vein of the Disgaea series because it has the same composer and artstyle. Very Halloween and witch-like themes specifically for The Witch and the Hundred Knight. I really enjoy the soundtrack witch came with the game.  (Pun intended) Especially the "Magical House" theme. I also really liked the voice acting. Especially for the characters, Metallica & Arlecchino. They both had very fitting voices.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight tells the tale of Metallia. A witch who awakens a magical creature called the Hundred Knight. Using the Hundred Knight as her familiar, Metallia aims to take over the world. The story of Metallia is a tale of many things. In the beginning, it starts out simple, but after 5 hours in it starts to delve more into the world and introducing more characters/going to different lands.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight! A fantastic PS3 exclusive by Nippon Ichi Software. I highly suggest it if you want a lengthy RPG with a good challenge, gripping story, and depth. I really enjoyed my time with the game, I even got the True Ending!

If you wanna play this game it's available both physically and digitally on PS3, please buy it if you're interested. By doing so you support NIS by giving them your money so we can get more games from them! ^_^
